Imagineering in a box
Disney Imagineers from various professional backgrounds worldwide reveal their utilization of a diverse skill set. This includes everything from storytelling and conceptual design to mathematical calculations, physics, and engineering. These skills converge harmoniously to craft immersive experiences. Imagineering in a Box, lets you explore facets such as character creation and ride development. This video series invites you to embark on the journey of designing your very own theme park.
Taking on this endeavor as a fun project during a snowy weekend, I opted to base my theme park on Disney's rendition of Hercules. Having fond memories of watching the movie extensively during my college program days at Disney, I found inspiration in the film's potential for exciting and distinctive theming of ancient Greece. What sets Hercules apart, in my opinion, is its incorporation of numerous pop culture references. The city of Thebes mirrors modern-day New York, Hercules assumes the role of a celebrity promoting "Buns of Bronze" workout scrolls and his "Air-Herc" shoe line. Intrigued by these elements, I infused them into my theme park.
For my two restaurants, I drew inspiration from contemporary favorites. The coffee shop takes cues from Starbucks, while the formal dining establishment, Ambrosia and Nectar, draws inspiration from the Cheesecake Factory.
No theme park is complete without a thrilling ride. In my creation, visitors will embark on a journey through the Greek sky, engaging in a battle against escaped Titans on Pegasus' Odyssey – a nod to Hercules' cinematic adventure.
And of course, a visit to The Agora is a must, offering an opportunity to partake in shopping and business activities reminiscent of ancient Greek traditions.
